It Gets Better
With the recent suicides of five teens due to gay bullying in ONE WEEK, TAL member SimplyRoxen has a heart felt message: "Your life is connected to others in a chain of events you may not even realize...." No bully should ever make you feel that your life is not worth living.
In a recent CNN report, an interview with Tom Prichard quoted him saying, "Youth who embrace homosexuality are at greater risk [of suicide] because they've embraced an unhealthy sexual identity and lifestyle." Some adults also believe that teaching anti-gay bullying at schools is just promoting teens to adopt a gay lifestyle and promote its acceptance - not everyone is cool with that. Teen Binge Drinking
A recent CDC Study says 1 in 4 teens binge drink: 42% of teens admit to drinking, and two thirds of those teens drink to excess. Someone who is a binge drinker is a person who consumes 4 to 5 alcoholic drinks in less than 2 hours. Now, of course, there are worries as to what this can do to a teen's health: they are candidates for liver disease, high blood pressure, and stroke - but also are more likely to suffer from alcoholism as adults. However, the BIG fear is the decisions teens make while under the influence of alcohol after binge drinking, such as driving while intoxicated, or getting in a car with someone whom has been drinking, or having unprotected sex.
